The "Beach Rose" was originally built in the 1940's as one of three beaches cottages associated with the Silver Sands Hotel. The Silver Sands was destroyed by the impact of two consecutive blizzards which hit the Maine coast in late 1978 and early 1979. The site which originally held the hotel now remains as a dune grass and beach roses field. The three beach cottages all remain today. All have been updated and remodeled, but the Beach Rose cottage has benefited by the most extensive remodeling and expansion.
The original one story cottage was elevated and completely redone in 1993. The kitchen was updated in 2016. In its short new lifetime, the cottage has made a distinct architectural statement for quality and design.
